There
are over 200 non-profit and local governmental agencies
in Irvington, Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown that are working
to improve the quality of life in our community. Too often,
however, residents are not aware of the services offered
and there is inadequate coordination among agencies. There
has been no single place information can be obtained or
exchanged.
The
Rotary Club has sponsored the Council of Agencies of Irvington,
Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. All non-profits and local
government agencies in the three villages are invited
to join. The Council will encourage the formation of various
Community Collaboration Groups, which will meet periodically
to share ideas, identify community needs and propose solutions,
and find areas for cooperation. These groups would include
Child Care Agencies, Faith-Based Organizations, Educational
Institutions, Community Service Organizations, Community
Recreation Facilities, Cultural Institutions, etc.
All
agencies are invited to place their events on the calendar,
post volunteer opportunities and youth employment opportunities,
list needs for emergency assistance, and discuss issues
on the community bulletin board. To obtain access, contact
info@councilofagencies.org.
